Asia-first Asia IRCAD Minimally Invasive Surgery Center
President Huang Ming-ho of Show Chwan Health Care System launched cooperation with famous IRCAD/EITS Laparoscopic Center in Strasbourg, France, and won the license to build the Asia-first well-equipped training center with expertise and enthusiastic services surpassing Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai and Singapore. With an investment of nearly NT$200 million, the center is a 3-story laboratory with 20 operating theatres occupying an area of 1500 ping in a circular design. The project is in vigorous progress and projected to be completed in March 2008.
Services in international languages—English and Japanese
In order to cope with healthcare globalization and diversification, Show Chwan vigorously promotes the establishment of a bilingual service environment, including hardware (facility indications), software (service facilities and English proficiency) and continual training; language teams include: the existing physician team, translation secretaries, administrative receptionists and medical technologists.
Results of multilingual proficiency survey indicate, 10 personnel with English and Japanese proficiency certification (GEPT and TOEFL); about 50 personnel took English courses organized inside and outside the hospital for over 36 hours; colleagues even formed the language clubs like the English Conversation Club and Japanese Club after work to invite non-hospital instructors to teach at the hospital.
