| 1.Gamma knife |
The functional neurology treatment center at this hospital was created in 2007, the current Gamma knife PerFexion, Is the first revolutionary generation in Asia, which, unlike the previous generation, does not have to shift patient during the treatment to replace Collimator with one of a suitable size and the treatment time is two third compared with the traditional Gamma knife.
PerFexion encompasses complete automatic and full-fledged features. This is a medical device for radiation surgery with the smallest error of its kind and with precision and speed unmatched by any other similar devices in the world. No surgery needed, no incision, and all can be done in one procedure.
PerFexion Gamma knife is equipped with 192 Cobalt-60 radiation sources, evenly spread out in the head of the machine. Prior to the treatment, patient’s head is stabilized with a special helmet.
The precise location of the lesion is pin-pointed by MRI scan and a relative point on the special helmet. After the three-dimensional coordinates and the treatment area are calculated, the radiation is then fixated on the lesion that receives large amount of radiation while the nearby normal tissues are spared.
The treatment of Gamma knife is suitable for: primary brain tumor, pituitary tumor, metastatic brain tumor, arteriovenous disorders, trigeminal, neuralgia hewer facial spasm, and disorder lesions such as Parkinsonism.

| 2.Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) |
IGRT is based on the 3-dimentioinal radiation technology that looks at changes in the distribution of the radiation amount and factors that affect the treatment plan or treatment outcome resulted from anatomical tissues’ movement during the treatment and the placement error in multiple treatment sessions such as breathing, stomach peristalsis, error in patient’s routine positions, and shrinking of the tumor.
Aided by multi-functional integrated system, real-time imaging and monitoring of the tumor as well as normal organs are performed before and during the treatment.
Image of patient’s position in the treatment room is recorded and compared with the image of previous treatment plan.
Adjustments are then made according to changes in the skeletal, organ or tumor positions, so that that high amount of radiation, much like a guided missile, is able to fixate and accurately land on the tumor, precisely as planned.

| 3.PET/CT Positron Emission Tomography (PET) |
PET/CT, equipped with a 16 slices CT scan, is capable of accurately capturing anatomical images which, when combined with the PET images, produce functional anatomy images around the lesion area with speed and accuracy.
CT scan aided with contrast medium elevates the diagnosis rate, which may possibly detect a lesion as small as 0.5 centimeter across.

| 4.SPECT/CT Single-photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) |
SPECT/CT, assisted by a 4 slices CT scan, produces images with higher quality than that produced by traditional SPECT scan.
The result is better adjusting and positioning functionalities.
The automatic real-time function of body surface detection promises higher safety of patients during exam.

| Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) |
While MIS has become the mainstream of surgical treatment, Show Chwan Health Care System has established the international class Asian IRCAD Center in cooperation with the IRCAD/EITS Laparoscopic Center in Strasbourg, France. In an MIS, the endoscope and robots are used together to minimize sutures, bleeding, pain, hospitalization and recovery time due to its minimal invasion. Therefore, it is good news to patients.
